Is it possible to get into grad school with a 2.5 GPA?

The most common GPA needed for grad school is 3.0, though exact grad school GPA expectations can vary a lot by program. Some schools do set strict cutoff GPAs, which generally range between 2.5 and 3.5, but you may be able to apply (and potentially get accepted!) even with a lower GPA.

Do grad schools look at all four years?

If you send the grades, they will look at them. They may ask for the last few years or all undergrad grades. Then the grad school will compare you with other candidates seeking entry.

Is 3.8 A good GPA in Masters?

An average graduate GPA would be around 3.5-3.6. Most students maintain around a 3.5 or more to be eligible to various funding opportunities at my school (UC Davis). Higher than a 3.8 is probably the upper tier of students.

Does Masters GPA matter for PhD?

Yes. Work in a MS program predicts, to some extent, how good a student’s further work at the PhD level may be. If the MS is in a field totally different than the PhD program to which the student applies, the GPA is likely to be given less weight.
