Is it competitive? Yes, Pitt Honors is competitive. We accept about 400 incoming students each year. Although we don’t have set SAT/ACT requirements, on average, a Pitt Honors student has a 1450 SAT and/or 32 to 33 ACT.
Why should I join the honors program?
University honors programs are created to attract exceptionally motivated students, as classes and their coursework are of a higher caliber than other college courses. If you are selected for an honors program, it is, in fact, an honor as the program sees you as an academically outstanding student.
Should I apply to UW Honors?
Students admitted to the UW Honors Program have a variety of academic and personal experiences. If you are interested in the type of education offered through the Interdisciplinary Honors Program, we encourage you to apply.
How do you get into honors?
Typically, high schools require students to display strong aptitude in a subject before being allowed to take an honors class in that subject. For example, to take Honors English next year, you may need to earn at least an 85% in your English class this year.

What does the UW look for in freshman applicants? The UW’s curriculum is rigorous, and Admissions screens every applicant to make sure that he or she will be academically successful. To do this, we consider the courses a student has taken, the grades he or she earned and SAT/ACT scores.
