Why is Puerto Rico not in the Olympics?
The IOC sees Puerto Rico’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) as a separate entity from that of the U.S. and in 1948, the IOC recognized it as its own team. Puerto Rico is not the only insular area allowed to compete independently from the United States in the Olympic Games.
